>Between 1st October and 3rd October 2008, the Commander of the Turkish Navy Admiral Metin Atac conducted a three day visit to Athens. The scope of this visit was to discuss confidence building measures in the Aegean and go over steps to be taken in the future. According to information of the news Admiral Ataç visited the Unknown Soldier Monument in Syntagma Square and the Turkish Military Cemetery in Piraeus.
Personally I think that it is a good thing if the highest admirals are talking to each other and have personal contact. But I am skeptic about how this personal contact will translate into the working of the military apparatus. If at all. As Arsistotle said: ‘One swallow does not make a summer’
