TCG Giresun Helps Hanjin Tianjin

Turkey's current contribution to NATO's SNMG-2, F-491 TCG Giresun was the first ship to help the Korean merchantship Hanjin Tianjin, yesterday. According to news reports, the Korean ship was apparently attacked by Somali pirates early Thursday. HMS Invincible Reached Her Final Destination

Yesterday on 12 April 2011, the 5 tugs towing the hull of the former British aircraft carrier HMS Invincible arrived at Aliağa, İzmir. Over the weekend I was able to take photos of the two warships that have been pride of the Turkish naval shipbuilding industry. P-1200 TCG Tuzla made her first port visit in Istanbul. F-511 TCG Heybeliada is continuing her sea trials.

M/F Ankara In Libya

The ferry M/V Ankara arrived in Benghazi on 11 April 2011. She took 45 Libyans, treated in hospitals in Turkey back home. According to the announcement from the Office of Prime Minister the ship will remain in the region as she will evacuate Egyptians from Libya. M/F Ankara Is Heading To Benghazi Again

According to AIS transponder data the ferry M/V Ankara has left Çeşme port for a trip to Benghazi, shortly after midnight on 9 April 2011.
