The Russian invasion of Ukraine has many consequences. most are very apparent some are not so. The Royal Netherlands Navy is suffering from one of the disguised consequences of the war in the Black Sea. They cannot perform the acceptance trials of their latest combat support ship, HNLMS Den Helder, in the Black Sea as it is too dangerous. The ship was built by Damen Shipyard in Galati , Romania.
Thus the semi-finished ship passed under her own power through the Turkish Straits southbound and is now in Souda Bay in Create where she will perform her trials.
