Minister Yaşar Güler Visits Naval Command in Qatar

Earlier this week, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler visited the Naval Command in Qatar and addressed the sailors. He highlighted the critical global and regional developments affecting security and emphasized the importance of maintaining the security of our nation and protecting our rights and interests with determination.

Turkey supports the rightful causes of friendly and allied countries, contributing significantly to global and regional peace and stability. Since 2017, the Turkish-Qatari Joint Command has successfully conducted security, training, and military advisory activities in Qatar.

The Navy has recently taken on new responsibilities in Qatar, similar to its operations in Somalia. The establishment of the Naval Command within the Turkish-Qatari Joint Command enhances military relations with Qatar. The presence of naval elements aims to:

  • Support the defense capabilities of the Qatari Armed Forces,
  • Provide training on naval operations,
  • Contribute to regional security through joint training and exercises.

The deployment of TCG Kuşadası and TCG Kumkale in Qatar further strengthens the relationship between the Turkish and Qatari Armed Forces.
