
The Slovenian patrol vessel Triglav arrived at Desan Shipyard in Tuzla İstanbul yesterday.
Triglav was built by Almaz Shipyard in Saint Petersburg and commissioned in Slovenian service in 2010.
The Slovenian Ministry of Defence announced in February 2024 that it has selected three companies to modernise the Svetlyak class patrol vessel.
The Turkish shipyard Desan has won the maintenance – replacement, repair, and upgrade of ship systems part of the tender for EUR 4,995,000.00. The Slovenian system integrator Panna Plus has been selected for the upgrade of the Command Control Computer Communication and Information system (C4I) for EUR 5,842,315.00 and Croatian shipyard Iskra Brodogradilište has won the rearmament – removal, adjustment, replacement, and installation of the ship’s weapon systems, for EUR2,308,000.00. The total value of the contract is EUR13,145,315.00.
The Slovenian MoD schedules the works on the ship to be finished by the end of 2025 and the boat to return to service in 2026.
Desan Shipyard will repair and upgrade the vessel fire extinguishing system, HVAC, platform management system, video surveillance system and vessel openings control system. The work will be conducted in Turkey.
Panna Plus, will modernize and complement the command and control system. This includes the installation of multifunctional radar, combat information system, transponder, naval tactical data receiver, GPS and satellite communication systems. The Croatian company will install a 30 mm naval cannon according to Slovenian news portal N1.
Currently, Triglav is fitted with one AK-306 automatic cannon (six-barreled 30 mm cannon), two MTPU 14.5 mm machine guns, AT-9 Spiral-2 anti-ship missile system, IGLA-2 light anti-aircraft missile system and PK-10 missile defence system
