The Combined Maritime Forces published a blog entry about the change of command ceremony for the CTF-151.
The ceremony marked the end of Turkish Navy’s third command of CTF-151. Turkish Navy has been an active participant to CTF-151 since its foundation in 2009.
I find the following warning of Rear Admiral Karaman very important:
“There has been significant media reporting suggesting that the war on piracy has been won and we should all go home; however, pirates are determined and constantly modifying their behaviour as we adjust our processes to impede their tactics. It is therefore necessary for us to remain vigilant in our counter-piracy operations.”
Similar words of caution was expressed by other commanders of other anti-piracy task forces. Though it has bitten less recently the danger is still there.
