On 6th September 2010, when leavening the Mombassa harbor Turkish frigate F-494 TCG Gökçeada ran aground briefly.
She was freed with the help of Kenyan tugs after one hour. She was docked back in Mombassa for a damage survey. The seemingly undamaged frigate then left Kenya for Dar Es Salaam on her own power, the same day.
