On 16 January 2010, F-496 TCG Gökova intervened to a pirate attack to an Indian ship.
India flagged M/V Jal Layak was inside the International Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC) and 105 miles off the coast when she was attacked by 6 pirates in a skiff. First the helicopter from TCG Gökova intervened, later the naval special forces boarded the skiff and found besides 6 pirates, one GPS, 3 mobile phones, 10 knifes and one AK-47.
With this latest arrest, the total of captured pirates by Turkish Navy increased to 35.
