>According to Israeli press reports Israel naval units will take part in NATO’s ongoing operation Active Endeavor.
Back in July 2009, Israel requested to be allowed to take part in Active Endeavor. During the recent visit of Italian Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, it was announced that Israel will contribute to Active Endeavor.
This makes Israel the third non-NATO nation to take part in that particular operation. Previously Russia deployed vessels twice, once both in 2006 and 2007, and Ukraine a total of four times, twice in 2007 and in 2008.
