According to Turkish daily Hürriyet, a sailor died during a fire on board a Russian aircraft carrier, when she was docked in naval base Aksaz in Marmaris.
The fire, lasting about two hours, was caused by a short circuit in the ship’s wiring and the sailor died from smoke inhalation late on Tuesday, RIA news agency reported.
Kuznetsov is in the region to conduct military exercises. This latest accident indicates that it is not easy for any nation to have a wide spread naval forces around to world and to keep them sufficiently supplied and maintained at the same time.
