>Minex Nusrat 2008 has started on 31th October 2008 and will continue till 8th November 2008.
This exercise, organized by Turkish Navy is held in North Aegean. Among the participants are ships from MCM ships from Romanian, Greek, Royal Navy, SNMCMG-2, mine sweeping and laying ships from Turkish Navy and naval EOD forces from UK and Turkey.
The exercise will be commanded from A-579 TCG Cezayirli Gazi Hasan Paşa. This ship is usually used for the cruises of naval cadets. But apparently she has some command and control capabilities as well.
The Greek participation is for me the most important issue here. Greek and Turkish ships sailed together in NATO’s Standing Naval Groups. But this is the first Greek participation in a Turkish military exercise after a long time.
As Nusrat 2008 is a invitation exercise, I believe the Greek side was especially invited after Admiral Ataç’s visit to Athens last month.
